How we rate products
Each product is scored across five criteria. The final rating is the simple average of these five scores.
- Ergonomics & Comfort — How well the product supports healthy posture and long working sessions based on design, adjustability, and published specifications.
- Build Quality & Durability — Materials, construction, weight ratings, and evidence of long-term reliability.
- Features & Usability — Practical functionality, ease of adjustment, setup complexity, and day-to-day convenience.
- Value for Money — Real cost of ownership relative to features, durability, and alternatives in the same category.
- Support & Warranty — Length and clarity of warranty, return policy, and quality of customer support signals.
The final score is the arithmetic mean of the five criteria. Individual scores are published so readers can see where a product performs well and where it falls short.
How we choose our Top lists
Our recommended lists are not automatically the highest-scored products. We also consider:
- Real-world suitability for different body types and work styles
- Long-term ownership experience
- Availability and support quality
- Balance between performance and price
A product can score highly in one narrow area and still not appear in a general Top list. When this happens, we explain the reasoning in the review.
